Emberfall Saga
Emberfall Saga is the kind of RPG that respects a small screen. Combat is turn-based, the menus are clean, and you can save mid-battle — a small thing that matters enormously when you're playing in stolen moments. You build a party of four, mix their skills, and slowly figure out which combinations actually carry you through the harder fights.
The writing pulled me in more than I expected. The revenge plot sounds generic on paper, but the side characters have real texture, and a couple of choices genuinely stayed with me. Regions are hand-drawn and each one has its own palette, so travel never blurs together.
My one gripe is the grind curve around the midgame, where a few boss fights ask for more levels than the story naturally gives you. Push past that and it opens up nicely. For a mobile RPG that doesn't nag you every few minutes, it's an easy recommendation.
What we liked
- Clean turn-based combat built for touch
- Characters worth caring about
