Pocket Verdict started as a group chat between friends who kept sending each other links to games and arguing about them. At some point we figured we might as well write the arguments down. The site is small on purpose: a handful of people who actually finish the games they cover.

We don't chase every release. A game gets a full review only after someone on the team has spent enough hours with it to have a real opinion, usually a week or more. If a game bores us after twenty minutes, we say so and move on.

Genre doesn't matter to us. A clever puzzle can be as satisfying as a deep strategy title. What we look for is whether the game respects your time and whether the core loop still feels good on day three. Those two questions decide most of our ratings.

Everything you read here is written by hand, edited by a human, and based on personal play. We're not trying to be the biggest games site. We just want the one you trust when you're standing in line deciding what to download.
