Big Bass Drop
Big Bass Drop is one of those games that looks simple until you're forty minutes deep trying to beat your own record. You tap to drop your line, wait for the ripple, and pull at the right moment. Get the timing wrong and the fish slips off; nail it and you feel weirdly proud of yourself. The whole thing runs on one thumb, which makes it perfect for a bus ride.
What I liked most is the rhythm. Each pond has its own tempo — some fish bite fast, some make you hold your breath. Later stages throw in currents and moving shadows, so you can't just spam the same tap. The art is bright and cartoonish without being loud, and the little splash sound never got on my nerves, which is saying something for an arcade game.
It's not deep, and it doesn't pretend to be. There's a light progression where you unlock new lakes and cosmetic rods, but the heart of it is the catch-and-timing loop. As a pick-up-and-play title it does exactly what it promises, and I kept coming back to it far longer than I expected.
